When this house was purchased in October 2017 … its glory days were long gone … thoughtful planning, physical work, were combined with money that was put into the renovation both inside and outside
An overgrown backyard that blocked the sky and magnificent views … this monstrous ficus was one of three that were taken down … along with many other accumulations of bushes, plants, and other unnecessary objects including 100’s of slate tiles
A total redo of the front of the house was undertaken to add privacy, outdoor space, as well as opening up this gem … which included the enclosed private front patio under the olive tree, adding a glass slider and patio in the 2nd bedroom … as well as opening up exterior walls for 3 new glass sliding doors … bringing a natural flow, and light from the outside to the inside … while giving the property 300 degrees of privacy
All dirt and a Mesquite tree that was standing just a couple weeks before being blown over by winds ... pulling the roots out of the ground
After cleaning up the area ... it was time to stake the area. To start putting the vision into action ... so each steps could progress
The natural terrain is going downhill and to the left ... which was the predominate factor in the design. While strategy was needed to enhance the green, and shotmaking charateristics needed to make this the best backyard golf area ever seen or played
So fill was needed, and this property had it underneath the dated patio. It then needed to be transported to the green site ... while also starting to shape the green with my feet to create the lines of play and strategy that a superior green needs
As the clouds dance above in the sky ... a passion to build a vision is underway down below. Using a shovel and wheelbarrow to transport ... and my feet to shape and contour the ground
I had bought the house with an outdated patio ... where half of the patio looked as if cinderblocks were cemented together. So to get to the precious sand underneath ... I sledgehammered the patio to break it up, dig underneath, extract the sand so to wheelbarrow it over to build-up and shape the lower green
Step by step ... shovel by shovel, patio section by patio section, wheelbarrow by wheelbarrow
